La Carmina!

I'm sure you're all aware of the J-pop scene/ culture in Japan: i.e. the crazy Japanese fashion scene- the best way I can explain it is "out there". It's a mix of goth, hello kitty, cutsie, weird, costumey and goofy. Take a look at La Carmina's blog. Entertaining to say the least. I was intrigued by her book Crazy Wacky Theme Restaurants: Tokyo. I never knew these things existed the way they do in Tokyo. It's like Halloween everyday of the year! It is my dream to someday experience Tokyo and I will definitely hit these restaurants up, for sure. Check out the book and explore the world of crazy cooky theme restaurants in Tokyo!

Lea T- Transgender Model

Can't miss this headline this week: Lea T now on cover of Lurve mag. After being on the Fall 2010 Givenchy ad campain, this transgender model is now on the cover of Lurve magazine.

I have to say this is not a big jump in the world of high-fashion modeling. I think that the allure of these models is their androgynous looks. Most high-fashion models look very bizarre and asexual; so Lea T's blast into the spotlight isn't that big of a deal. She has the look.

I think what makes this a headline is the fact that her gender, one that is so socially unacceptable, is now in the spotlight. Take it or leave it- that's what she is and she is successful. I am glad she can be open about it. And I have to say, I especially love the Givenchy photos that she's in. Take a look. They are beautiful.

I want! Fab shoes and hat.

Found the most fabulous shoes today. I must have these heels by Marc Jacobs. Found it on the lovely blog Taghrid.

Okay and the other must-have for the Fall is this hat; so versatile and so sophisticated. Love it. Gotta love Fashiontoast.

Chic-y Monday

I absolutely love the lushness of the Victorian aesthetic. It embodies chic, rich luxury. From the rich textures and patterns to the dainty details, it appeals to my design aesthetic so romantically. What excites me even more is the fusion of Victorian style and modern sensibility. The juxtaposition of modern edginess and Victorian romanticism creates a very pleasing palette. Above is a collection of inspirations with this in mind. They invoke chic-y luxury to me.

a: Sofia Loren 1972 (from Fendi's photo gallery)
b: Fendi dress (Fall/Winter 2010-2011)
c: Classic & modern design beautifully illustrated (decorating ideas)
d: Japanese inspired waves wallpaper (Foulards Kanagawa, Elitis)
e: Beautifully decorated interior, love the color palette
f: Philippe I: mini collection (Gueridon by Sam Baron)
g: Quilted textured wallpaper

Balmain Punk

I was checking out the runway photos from Paris Fashion week Spring collections. I love the styling of Balmain's line. What's weird is it doesn't seem much ahead of the curve, if anything a bit recycled. The punk style somewhat modernized but worn well today and well it's nothing new. I love it, don't get me wrong, but it's interesting seeing a new runway collection that's already being worn. Very ready-wear of course, but I don't know if this is a bad criticism.

Balmain obviously pulls off this sexy punk-rock look beautifully, and within the context of today's green trends, it may speak to the acceptance of recycled design. Conceptually I think it works, but most people are apprehensive to seeing something that is recycled (on the runway anyways). Personally, I think he could have put a fresher spin on the designs, but like I said I do not mind the collection since it was pulled off so impeccably.

Thanks Knight Cat for the great photos.

Beach Bunny Swimwear Review

I ordered the Rich Girl (aqua/ivory) bikini from Beach Bunny Swimwear online about a week ago. Check out their line. Very sexy, as the name implies. Here is my review:

First off, shipping was very quick! I ordered on a Tuesday and it was delivered on Saturday the same week; this was for the regular ground shipping. Unfortunately I wasn't home so it took another day to get it redelivered but I was surprised it was shipped so quickly. On to the swimsuit. I absolutely adore it.

I was afraid it would look too "lingerie-ey" as it kind of does in the picture, but it isn't. The material is super soft and not cheap feeling. Definitely good quality swimwear. Worth the money as far as look and material. I'm gonna wear it for Vegas in a week and a half. So excited! Any problems I will report back.

Shuella for Spring

I think these are fantastic. Shuella-the shoe umbrella. They are ideal for heels. Fashionable and functional at the same time.

Tjejsaijten

Great photo of one of the Olsens (not sure which...) I found browsing a new fashion blog I ran into tonight. Tjejsaijten. -that word looks like someone just tapped randomly on the keyboard- I definitely am not very knowledgeable when it comes to what's hot and who's who in fashion, that's just not my field of expertise...but as far as I can tell the Olsens are very into high-fashion. Go them. Wish I had the means to live like that.

Last Night's Party blog

I'm in a hotel room with two naked porn stars and a pin-up model, partying. The vodka is ¾ done. It's 2 a.m. The phone rings.
She speaks. So are you serious? You want to take pictures of me?
Yes. I can do it tomorrow if you're around.
Why not tonight? Are you busy?
The girl on the other end of the line is my bank teller from this afternoon. My Washington Mutual teller wanting to come over right now when I'm hanging out with these crazy girls and take pictures. Bad, bad idea.
Yeah, ok. Perfect. Come over.
I tell the girls to get dressed so we don't freak her out when she gets here.
The bank teller calls back.
I'm nervous, you know, my body isn't perfect. I recently broke up with my boyfriend and I gained a few pounds. Is that okay?
She's on speaker phone and the porn stars are making "Oh, she's so cute..." faces.
I like your curves. Don't worry about it. Come over.
More drinks.
She knocks on the door. Shh, shh... She's either gonna freak out or, I don't even know.
I open the door. She looks into the trashed hotel room.
She speaks.
You know, I don't mind if you guys wanna get naked.

Last Night's Party's blog. I can't believe I didn't see this before. Some great entries. Take a look.

Gay Porn Star Identical Twin: Keyon Goffney

I came across this article on the Details site the other day.  It is provocative to say the least.  Keyon and Taleon Goffney, identical twins from Camden NJ, do what is necessary to make it.

I think the article, long-winded as it is, emphasizes what it is about Keyon that is so easy to latch on to.  His modeling career is inextricably linked to his bizarre history, but you can't help but relate to it.

I keep coming back to why it is I am drawn to this story; it is only unique in its specifics.  Bizarre and perverse as it may be to some, the story of survival is in a sense the "American Dream"; in Keyon's words "It's a hustle.  Just like anything else".

the cobra snake

I absolutely love Last Night's Party. Something about wild and crazy party pictures-even of strangers-that make me feel so good.  The Cobra Snake is another great site along these lines; not quite my scene but great moments nonetheless. Enjoy!
